Texas Instruments AMC3306M25/AMC3306M25-Q1 Delta-Sigma Modulator

Texas Instruments AMC3306M25/AMC3306M25-Q1 Precision Delta-Sigma (ΔΣ) Modulator is optimized for shunt-based current measurements. The device has a fully integrated isolated DC/DC converter that allows single-supply operation from the device's low side. The reinforced capacitive isolation barrier is certified according to VDE V 0884-11 and UL1577. This isolation barrier separates parts of the system that operate on different common-mode voltage levels and protects lower-voltage parts from damage. The Texas Instruments AMC3306M25/AMC3306M25-Q1 input is optimized for direct connection to shunt resistors or other low-voltage-level signal sources. The integrated isolated DC/DC converter allows unconstrained shunt placement, independent of any high-side supply usually required to power the isolated modulator. This feature makes the device a unique solution for space-constrained applications.

The device supports excellent AC and DC performance over its linear input voltage range of ±250mV. By using a digital filter or delta-sigma-filter module (such as those integrated into the TMS320F2807x or TMS320F2837x microcontroller families) to decimate the bitstream, the device can achieve 16 bits of resolution with a dynamic range of 85dB at a data rate of 78kSPS. The AMC3306M25/AMC3306M25-Q1 is fully specified over the extended industrial temperature range of –40°C to +125°C. The AMC3306M25-Q1 devices are AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.
