The HVMA03F4A-LP8S, available from Mouser Electronics, is a compact flyback transformer specifically engineered to support high-power density designs for greater efficiency. The device operates from a typical 12-volt supply with an extended input voltage range of 10 to 24 volts. The new mechanical design of the coil in this transformer also increases system performance and safety. The optimized feature set of the HVMA03F4A-LP8S makes it perfect for use with Silicon Carbide (SiC), insulated-gate bipolar transistors IGBT and Gallium Nitride (GaN) switching elements found in a wide range of automotive, industrial, and energy storage applications.
The HVMA03F4A-LP8S series flyback transformer is fabricated with a center-tapped output that produces a ±5V supply to enable the biasing of gate drive activation and deactivation circuits. The transformer features a maximum operating voltage of 800 VDC, is AEC-Q200 automotive-grade compliant and incorporates a fundamental insulation layer that meets IEC 60664-1 standards. The device offers an 8 mm creepage and 2 mm clearance with a Hi-Pot isolation voltage of up to 2750 VAC. The creepage distance combined with the 800-volt working voltage makes these transformers ideal for new electric vehicles (EVs) and green energy applications requiring high isolation voltage.
The Bourns HVMA03F4A-LP8S transformer features a compact SMT package unique for its large working voltage capabilities. It is ROHS and REACH compliant and specified over an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C to meet AEC-Q200 standards.
