Motor Control Applications

Toshiba Motor Control Applications are a portfolio of new-generation devices for motor applications. Included are high-performance MOSFETs for high efficiency in end products. These Toshiba MOSFETs are fabricated using the current Gen-8 trench MOS process, which helps improve the efficiency of power supplies. Features include low drain-source on-resistance, low leakage current, and high avalanche ruggedness.

Brushless Motor Driver ICs

Toshiba offers a broad range of fully integrated drivers that can simplify many low-power designs, semi-integrated controllers with gate drivers for medium-power applications. These driver ICs are highly configurable controllers for a wide range of voltage and power designs with flexibility. Toshiba solutions are suitable for sensorless motors typically found in low-inertia rotational devices such as fans, pumps, and vacuums. Toshiba solutions also control sensor-based motors such as robotics, mixers, shredders, grinders, power tools, garage door openers, exercise equipment, and more.

Cordless Power Tool Solutions

Various types of power tools are marketed for a wide range of applications, from household to professional use. Recently, the adoption of high-capacity lithium-ion batteries has led to a shift to cordless types that are compact, light, easy to carry, and easy to work with, not only for household use but also for professional use, such as hammer drills, impact wrenches, nailers, staplers, and round saws. TC78B0 Brushless Motor Driver ICs

Toshiba TC78B0 Brushless Motor Driver ICs are designed to control motor rotational speed by changing the PWM duty cycle. These driver ICs feature a three-phase full-wave drive, sine-wave PWM drive, brake function terminal, selectable rotation direction, overcurrent detection circuit, and thermal shutdown circuit. The brushless motor driver ICs have a 150° trapezoid PWM chopper system that controls the motor rotational speed. The one-hall drive system and current sense resistor-elimination system reduces the number of external components and saves space on the boards. These TC78B0 brushless motor drive ICs are ideal for fan motors.
