AFE Subsystem Reference Designs

Maxim Integrated MAXREFDES4#, MAXREFDES5#, MAXREFDES6#, MAXREFDES11#, and MAXREFDES30# are 16-bit high-accuracy industrial analog front end (AFE) subsystem reference designs. The Campbell (MAXREFDES4#) subsystem reference design accepts a 4-20mA current loop or a 0.2V to 4.096V voltage input signal, and features isolated power and data—all integrated into a small form factor. The Cupertino (MAXREFDES5#) subsystem reference design accepts -10V to +10V, 0 to 10V, and 4-20mA current loop signals with isolated power and data integrated into a small form factor.

MAXREFDES Reference Designs

Analog Devices Inc. MAXREFDES Reference Designs accelerate designs with specific examples of high-performance Maxim products in actual circuits. These reference designs include design implementations from single parts to subsystems, all the way up to full system designs. Each design has been built and tested. These are offered in analog front end (AFE), output isolated power supplies, sensors and various other reference designs that allow engineers to implement various Maxim devices into their applications.

MAXREFDES5 Santa Fe Reference Design

Analog Devices Inc. MAXREFDES5 Santa Fe Reference Design is a 16-bit high-accuracy industrial analog front end (AFE) that accepts -10V to +10V, 0 to 10V, and 4-20mA current loop signals with isolated power and data integrated into a small form factor. The Santa Fe design integrates low-noise, high-impedance analog buffers (MAX9632); a highly accurate ADC with innovative on-chip attenuation (MAX1301); an ultra-high precision 4.096V voltage reference (MAX6126); 600VRMS data isolation (MAX14850); and isolated/regulated +12V, -12V, and 5V power rails (MAX256/MAX1659). This AFE solution can be used in any application that needs high-accuracy analog-to-digital conversion, but it is mainly targeted for industrial sensors, industrial automation, process control, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and medical applications.

MAX9632 Wide-Band Operational Amplifier

Maxim Integrated's MAX9632 wide-band operational amplifier is optimized for excellent AC dynamic performance, ultra-low-noise, wide operating voltage range, and low-drift signal conditioning. This Maxim Integrated device provides high-fidelity signal conditioning with THD specifications better than -136dB, enabling use in professional audio equipment and high-end test and instrumentation applications. The MAX9632 op amp targets industrial data-acquisition applications that require precision signal conditioning at low frequencies. This Maxim Integrated op amp features exceptionally fast settling time and low distortion. The rail-to-rail output swing maximizes the dynamic range when driving high-resolution 24-bit ∑Δ analog-to-digital converters even with low supply voltages. The MAX9632 IC achieves 55MHz of gain-bandwidth product and ultra-low 0.94nV/√Hz input voltage noise with only 3.9mA of quiescent current.
