Fuses & Fuse Holders

Bussmann / Eaton Fuses and Fuse Holders are designed to provide overcurrent protection against harmful surges that cause critical damage. These fuses are offered in various sizes and are suitable for a wide range of applications, including automotive, power conversion, EV charging stations, industrial control panels, and material handling systems. Bussmann / Eaton Fuses and Fuse Holders provide various mounting options and configurations, ensuring an ideal solution can be found for any project.

PTSLR PTC Resettable Fuses

Eaton Electronics PTSLR PTC Resettable Fuses provide overcurrent and overtemperature protection in various applications and come in 0805, 1206, 1210, and 1812 chip sizes. PTSLR PTC Resettable Fuses offer hold currents from 0.75A to 5A and can interrupt fault currents up to 50A at maximum rated voltage. During fault conditions, these fuses offer a high resistance to prevent current from flowing in the circuit until the cause of the fault is removed and the device cools. Unlike one-time fuses, PTSLR fuses do not need to be replaced immediately after a trip. PTSLR fuses offer lower initial resistance than other PTC fuses (as low as 1mΩ), which helps improve power loss across the device in normal operation. PTSLR fuses are ideal for rechargeable battery packs, USB ports, and small DC motors.

Battery Management Systems

Eaton provides a wide portfolio of products for Battery Management Systems (BMS), including terminal blocks, fuses, supercapacitors, chokes, inductors, and more. Battery Management Systems monitor individual cells, system voltage, current, and temperature. When monitoring individual cells, the BMS balances voltages and regulates the current flow, and if the upper or lower voltage, current, or temperature limit is exceeded, the BMS temporarily disconnects the load or source. Eaton Battery Management Systems estimate the State of Health (SoH), State of Charge (SoC), State of Energy (SoE), and State of Power (SoP) in batteries.

PTC Resettable Fuses

Eaton PTC Resettable Fuses are designed to protect sensitive components from overcurrent and overtemperature conditions that can occur due to power surges, electrical transients, high ambient temperatures, and more. The PTC fuses are based on a unique positive coefficient material whose internal resistance increases exponentially due to overcurrent conditions and higher temperatures. High resistance offered by the fuse during a trip prevents current from flowing through the circuit until the fault current/over-temperature source is removed and falls below the design current/temperature limit. Once the fault current is removed or the ambient temperature cools, the fuse re-enters its conducting state, allowing the current to flow through the circuit again. These components ensure constant uptime in applications where using one-time fuses would be impractical or expensive, including battery-powered devices, industrial controllers, medical devices, and I/O ports of consumer electronics.
